The Toyota Verossa is categorized as a sedan car manufactured by the Japanese domestic market. These were available there exclusively the Toyota vista Store in Japan. The Verossa extended the Japanese government regulations regarding external dimensions and engine displacement. The Verossa offered customers a sedan that carried on presenting a front engine rear drive platform, opposite the 2001–2006 Toyota Camry with front wheel drive and very similar dimensions.
The Verossa had an edge over the Toyota Camry as it has the ability to make an all wheel drive available whereas the Toyota Camry could not produce a vehicle with such specifications. The Verossa was offered in combination with the Toyopet Store alternative called the Toyota Store Brevis and the Progrès.
The Toyota Mark II stablemates, the Cresta and the Chaser were replaced by the Verossa. All these three cars had their production ended in 2000. When compared the sporting dimensions of the Chaser along with the high luxury interior of the Cresta all in a car that was small in size than the Toyota Crown. It was considered as the favorite by the Japanese luxury car consumers for many years. The Verossa was a bigger version of the Toyota Altezza that was first released in 1998, the one vehicle with sales success. It was a rear wheel drive with high performance and a luxury car and was charged with a straight 6 engine. The X-chassis model code of the Verossa was shared with its antecedent vehicles also had a front-engine rear-drive layout.
But due to the very low sale of the Verossa, the production ended in 2003. The Verossa was made available for sale in about three different models along with 3 straight 6 engine and 3 transmission types, whereas the all-wheel drive was available on some models but it was only offered with an automatic transmission. The optional and standard features offered on the Verossa were navigation, a front stabilizer bar, fully automatic air conditioning and power seats.
The base level Verossa was charged with a Toyotas 1G-FE engine. The 20 was only offered with a 4-speed automatic transmission that was electronically controlled while the 20Four and 20Four G package were made available with all-wheel-drive offered as permanently. The G Package had leather seats and alloy wheels.
The 25 and the V25 were offered with Toyotas 1JZ engine with direct injection rated at 200 PS. Both these models were equipped with a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic, distinguishing them from the 1G-quipped Verossas. There were leather seating option and 17" wheels.
The VR25 had the same turbocharged 1JZ-GTE engine. It was based on a rear-drive chassis setup. The engine is combined with either a 5-speed manual or the same 4-speed as used in the 2.0L models along with a standard limited-slip differential. The VR25 was offered with 17" wheels, rear and front strut-tower bars and leather as an option along with the front and the rear spoilers.
